My Yearning Childhood Comics

Dr. Slump

Crayon Sin Chan

Doraemon

China Hero

Storm Warriors

Today accidentally saw Dr. Slump pic which emailed to me by my friend, which make me suddenly miss those childhood comics and life a lots~^^. Its been more than a decade I did not touch the above comics, which I am so addicted to them before I enter and till the end of primary school life.

I recall that I always get punished and reprimanded by both my parents and school teachers, just because I consumed most of my time keep reading those stuff and learned to draw them, and thus ignore all my study and homework.

But, in fact, I am quite well known in my friends group, which I am good in drawing comic, especially Hong Kong style comic, and the second reason is, I always being called by my teachers to face headmaster individually (of course not for good things)~XP~what a shame~lol~

Sincerely, if not the pressure from my family and relatives, and also the rare development opportunities of the comic field in local. Today I shall be in this field, but not business field, for this is my natural born talent and interest...sigh...

Haiz...time just past that fast, no longer a stupid child anymore, really hope that there is a chance for me to fly back to my childhood life again, even me always dream to be an adult soon at that time... :) ...

Restaurant owner Oversea Enterprise gets Bursa listing nod

KUALA LUMPUR: Oversea Enterprise Bhd, which owns and operates the Restoran Oversea chain, has received Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd's approval to list on the ACE Market.

Oversea expects to be listed by the first quarter of 2010. OSK Investment Bank Bhd is the adviser, sponsor, underwriter and placement agent.

The group started with its pioneer Restoran Oversea outlet in Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur in 1977. Since then, it has expanded to seven outlets in the Klang Valley and Ipoh. It also has a contemporary casual dining café under the "Tsim Tung" brand, and a specialty 'dim sum' outlet.

Oversea also manufactures specialty moon cakes and baked products namely egg rolls, oriental muffin and wedding biscuits, to complement its restaurant business.

Oversea seems to be an attractive stock, for restaurant based company, it seems that only a few listed in ACE market, nor at the main market. Another point is, it is different from other listed restaurant company such as Kentucky and etc, which Oversea offered its unique core services and side products. Additional with its famous brand name and long established experience, I believe that Oversea  can be considered a good choice to invest in it.

EON Cap and HLB Story

The recently most interesting business news in Malaysia:

My observation: Usually the one which going to be takeover by other will have a share price decrease, and the one going to takeover will have share price increase, which happen to EON Cap now. Same things go to last year Media Prima takeover action on New Strait Time.

FTSE KLCI drop till 1269.70 basis point

This week FTSE KLCI unable to break the 1300 resistance line even it is so close in last week, and untill today, it had dropped till 1269.70, which had break the supporting line of 1277. And today's dropping trend is due to the share price decreased in major finance industry stocks (PPB, CIMB, and AMMB) and also planting stocks (IOI and BKAWAN).

This news will not seems interesting here as reader can get this information in any media, the interesting thing I would like to share here is, last weekend when I attending the seminar organized by RHB invest, PPB, CIMB and IOI is the few major stocks included in their recommended stocks which they said will have a chance to gain in this few weeks, haha, the message which I am going to bring out here is, don't ever believe blindly in any analysts recommendation, for market is really really unpredictable.

Anything will be a important point to determine the market trend, for example this few days downward trend is contributed by the policy of financial tightening of US and China, which scattered away lots of investors.

But if referring to Warren Buffett adverse investing strategy, is it now considered a good time to go in market? which is "greed when majority of people fear, fear when majority people greed", while we still not see the potential decrease level? lets track it~

RHB Market Chat at Gurney G Hotel

Today wake up early 7am and  ride bus to RHB organized seminar held at Gurney G Hotel. This seminar content included global market condition review by remarkable analyst, the head of RHB research institute, Mr Lim Chee Sing, and technical analyst on FBM KLCI and few picked stocks by Mr Khoo Ban Yu, the technical analyst of RHB research institute. And two more talks on the purpose to market their financial product.

Well, after attend the seminar, the conclusion is, I am just like a primary student which listening to a degree level lecture...>.<, what a shame...after about 1 and a half hour presentation with lots of chart ,figures, and facts, the only key point I get in Mr Lim's sharing is global and local economy is in a recovery trend, despite it is still remain volatile and growth slowly, other than this point, I really absorb nothing else.

As for Mr Khoo's sharing, even I can understand it more compared to Mr Lim's, but it is not far better~:P, with numerous charts and figures too, the key point is FBM KLCI will possibly stable and upward bias in the coming next 3 months, but depend on the market psychology sentiment, which the market will boost if support line is fixed at 1300 points.

One more finding in this seminar, throughout the seminar, I saw many uncles and aunts (me more likely the youngest one in that occasion) hold a pen and paper which seems to take notes throughout the seminar, but in fact, they only copy something when the both the above analysts recommend what share to pay attention at (which implied which one to buy)~:D, I wonder they pay attention on other contents or not?

Even though didn't get much from this seminar, but at least I learned that I am still much far to achieve for certain level in this field, and besides, the free breakfast and tea break there is delicious, that is enough to cover back my transportation cost~:P~

Hmm...tomorrow still have one more seminar at Gurney Hotel there, hopefully it will be more easily to be digested...haha~

Finance - Short Selling Strategy

After studying finance knowledge for about a year, there is few things that I found quite interesting. And one of them is the strategy of "short selling".

Usually we assume that when we purchase and hold an asset, we will make profit when price increase and we sell it. But actually we do able to make profit even there is a price decrease of the asset value, and more interesting, the profit large possibly more higher than simple buy low sell high (also known as "long" as inverse to "short")strategy.

Well, the theory is like this, assume we borrow an asset worth RM500, and we sold it to another party at RM500 too. And after that, the asset value dropped till RM200, and we purchase back the asset at RM200 and return it to our lender, thus, the remaining RM300, absolutely is our net profit (and more important, the above trading activities can execute without origin cost!).

It seems interesting if compared to long strategy, but, of course there are few issues that a short seller have to bear in mind when running this strategy. First, a short seller only can make profit if only the price movement is as expected. Second, even though making profit without using initial cost ( high leverage) seems interesting, but when it is in adverse way, the same effect occur that the short seller have to lost a huge margin of money too.

Therefore, a successful short seller must have the ability to predict future asset price movement precisely in order to run a successful short strategy, so it is advise that people who are not damn good in acquire or predict the first hand asset market information better not to touch this~:P, this post just a knowledge to share but not to recommend people to adopt this strategy~^^.

Next post I try to share some famous people who are good in this strategy and how they work it.

TNB shares at 3-month low on talk of no tariffs hike

PETALING JAYA: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) shares slipped to their lowest in three months yesterday, fuelled by talk that there would be no increase in tariffs this month.

“It was that as well as a little bit of the gradual increase of natural gas and coal prices due to the cold weather factor,” said Chris Eng, head of research at OSK Investment Bank.

Natural gas and coal are the main sources for TNB’s power generation.

Shares in the national power producer shed up to 3.2% in early trade yesterday but closed 1.8% down at RM8.20.

It is understood that the subject of an increase in tariffs was not brought up at the Cabinet’s most recent meeting as widely anticipated.

A Bloomberg report yesterday quoted Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui as saying that the Government had not decided whether to raise power prices.

“Investors could have been disappointed that it (a decision on a hike) is taking longer than expected and sold off,” Eng said. “But we’re still hopeful for a hike soon.”

The market has been anticipating an increase in electricity prices this month following TNB’s higher independent power producer capacity payments to its newly-commissioned Jimah plant in Port Dickson.

The expectations of a tariff hike are also premised on the Government’s move to reduce subsidies to keep its budget deficit in check.

A tariff hike may help the Government reduce subsidy expenses but it can also lead to inflationary concerns.

TNB is now paying a subsidised gas price of RM10.70 per million British thermal units (mmbtu), which is lower than the market price of about RM12 per mmbtu.

It is learnt that TNB would only adjust the electricity tariffs based on the gas price factor, and not add on any other variables.

Electricity tariffs in Peninsular Malaysia were last adjusted on March 1 last year, reduced by an average of 3.7% following the 24% hike in July 2008.

The 3.7% tariff reduction was accompanied by a 25.2% reduction in gas prices from RM14.31 per mmbtu effective July 2008 to RM10.70 per mmbtu effective March last year.

A fund manager said yesterday’s sellers included some foreign funds. A total of 17 million shares changed hands, at least double the volume traded a day earlier.

Travel KL for Term Paper

This is not the first time, my badge have used to experienced this in our first year degree study. Know why? Because our lecturer want to do their thesis, and we, of course, the best free resources to help them finish their survey and save lots of their works~Thats why I always assume that if they are more suitable in taking economic subject, as they are damn good in economic basic phrase: getting the most from limited resources with unlimited wants and needs.

This time our far distance survey is under the financial derivatives subject, we need to do survey on fund management company registered under securities commission. The survey is based on the using of hedging strategy of those companies, whether they use it or not, why and why not, the impact and else.

As those company mostly based in KL, therefore we have to spend on transportation cost by our own~>.<~Big sacrifice huh? My group had chosen a company based in KL, located at Jalan Ismail, luckily there is a good friend living near there (Titiwangsa) can provide me accommodation.

Anyway, for me it is interesting, at least it is better than my last time  far distance survey, which me and my group mates have to travel far inside the rural areas in Pahang, which is a terrible experience by almost consuming our whole day time on riding bus to reach the destination~

This survey will be taken during the last week in this month, hopefully everything will be go smoothly, cheero~!
